International Researcher Meetup – Multidisciplinary research in Life Sciences

On 22nd June 2022 took place the 6th meetup for international researchers in Central Bohemia at Biotechnology and Biomedicine Center in Vestec, BIOCEV.

The idea of the meetup is to strength the community of foreigner researchers that are currently working at the different centers and research facilities in the region. This event is part of the service Welcome Office and pretends on the one hand the integration of this community and on the other hand the mutual sharing and knowledge of research infrastructures in the region. Every meeting is held each time in a different location. This time the choice was BIOCEV with a thematic of “Multidisciplinary research in live sciences”. Even if a thematic is given, the meetups are open to students and researcher from all fields of the science and do not require previous specific knowledge of the topic in question.

The program started with a welcome drink and then a short presentation about the BIOCEV, from the hand of Petr Solil, head of communication and spokesperson of the BIOCEV. Then, two more presentations were conducted, about the cooperation of the BIOCEV with institutions, particularly with ELI Beamlines and Faculty of Biomedical Engineering CTU in Prague. The project was presented by Gustavo Fuertes Vives, head of Program “Dynamics of Biological Processes” and Roman Matějka, head of the team Bioreactors for tissue and organ engineering, respectively. Afterwards, visits to the Centre of Molecular Structure and Imagining Methods Core Facility.

The last part of the program was traditionally devoted to team activities, where scientists worked in teams on a joint assignment, which they then presented to other teams. Finally, there was a amusing quiz in the field of pop culture and, of course, networking.
